RECORDING ACOUSTIC GUITAR WITH ONE MICROPHONE

The LA-120 is a fantastic drum overhead mic, but how does it sound on fingerstyle acoustic guitar?

Getting a balanced recording from an acoustic guitar can be tricky. Depending on the player, instrument, style, and tool with which the strings are played, a lot can go wrong. Sometimes there's too much bottom end or too much string noise. Sometimes it sounds thin while at the same time sounding dull.

Alberto Ziliotto is a fingerstyle acoustic guitar player based in Italy and an avid Lauten Audio user. He recently sent us this recording of his acoustic guitar tracked with a single LA-120 plugged straight into a UA Apollo with 610b unison microphone preamp to showcase just how musical an LA-120 can be.
