MADE FOR USE IN KICK DRUMS

PURE CAPTURE

Kick Mic maintains its polar pattern integrity down to critical frequencies (50Hz), where a kick drum’s core energy is generated, eliminating low-frequency buildup, phase issues caused by reflections, and muddy sound.

KC608 - KICK CAPSULE

Through innovative acoustic engineering and physics, KC608's single-diaphragm design captures the complete kick drum. This delivers superior transient response, natural timbral balance, and musical dynamics from ghost notes to full hits.

EFFORTLESS EQ

Kick Mic is made to be molded. It preserves the authentic sound of a kick drum —from transients to timbre —making small or significant EQ and compression decisions faster and easier.

LOW PASS

The low-pass filter reduces high frequencies and bleed, nearly eliminating the sound of a beater altogether at its maximum position.
FLAT LOW PASS
The Flat setting lets the full sound of a bass drum pass through Kick Mic’s circuits, maximizing the balance of beater impact, mid-range punch, and shell resonance.
12kHz LOW PASS
Choose 12k when you want to gently soften the top-end impact of a beater while slightly adding emphasis to Kick Mic’s mid-range punch and low-end extension.
5kHz LOW PASS
When you want to maximize the body and punch being captured from a bass drum, while minimizing the top-end attack from the beater, set Kick Mic to 5k.

HIGH PASS

The high-pass filter removes low-end and increases mid-range punch and attack.
FLAT HIGH PASS
Select 50Hz when you want to gently reduce low-end buildup while also shifting Kick Mic’s tonal focus toward mid-range punch and beater impact.
80Hz HIGH PASS
Select 80Hz when you want to gently reduce low-end buildup while also shifting Kick Mic’s tonal focus toward mid-range punch and beater impact.
140Hz HIGH PASS
Choose 140Hz when you want to maximize the attack and clarity of a bass drum in order to cut through a dense mix in both live and studio applications.

"Kick Mic has completely changed my workflow and thought process. The physical size of the mic is perfect for finding the sweet spot inside the drum, delivering huge low end and a smooth attack. Capturing the ideal sonic footprint of how I want the kick drum to sound and feel-whether in a mix or just during playback while tracking-is a huge part of my workflow. With Kick Mic, less EQ is needed, compression becomes a matter of taste, and the gate is used more to shape the drum’s character rather than simply control bleed."

Darrell Thorp

"Kick Mic is a no-brainer. It only takes one quick sound check to realize it’s giving everything you want in a kick mic. All without needing a multi-mic setup. It’s an easy pick. Getting the high-end attack right without too much bleed is always tricky on toms. But Tom Mic really minimized that issue. The toms sounded clean, full, nice focused attack, all with as little bleed as you could hope for."

Josh Wilbur

"A great kick mic is something I have been searching for my entire career. I can say that this mic might be the perfect kick drum mic I have ever heard. I've gone through dozens of mics trying to find what perfect is. I can honestly say that this is one mic that will leave you breathless."

KICK MIC FAQS

Frequently asked questions for Kick Mic

How is Kick Mic different from my current dynamic microphone?

Kick Mic’s capsule has a much faster transient response and recovery time than a dynamic microphone, and its polar pattern is maintained all the way to 50Hz. This allows us to balance speed, impact, and low frequencies in a truly unique and powerful way.

How does Kick Mic do with double kick pedal setups?

Amazing! Because of its unique design, Kick Mic responds instantly to every beater impact without being overwhelmed by low-frequency buildup, ensuring a consistently powerful sound on every impact.

Will Kick Mic work on bass drums without a front port?

Kick Mic was designed for use inside bass drums. While it will still work in this application, we recommend removing the font head for optimal performance. If this is not possible, we recommend one of our large diaphragm condenser microphones, like the Clarion, for outside placement on non-ported bass drums.

Can I use Kick Mic on other sound sources?

Kick Mic is explicitly designed and tested for use inside of bass drums, though you can certainly try it on other instruments. Just keep in mind that this is a purpose-built microphone made to be the best on just one thing: kick.
