Traditional microphones were built for a signal chain most modern creators don’t have. So we designed the LA-220 to sound great without it.
LA-220 V2 utilizes the same upgraded capsule as its larger tube sibling, the LA-320 V2. Unlike traditional capsule designs, our hand-tuned 32mm transducer naturally imparts gentle compression and balance to any sound source.
Capture vocals with presence and punch or an electric guitar without any annoying high-end sizzle.
The LA-220’s onboard analog sound-shaping eliminates the need for mic swaps and downtime, which means you can focus on what's most important.
The 120Hz setting reduces low-frequency mud while increasing clarity.
The 12 kHz setting is classy and warm, like a vintage microphone.
Hand-soldered with high-resolution, low-distortion polypropylene capacitors and resistors, a U.S.-made ultra-low noise JFET, and a vintage-inspired output transformer. Designed and tested in Northern California.
Every LA-220 V2 includes a spider shock mount and microphone bag.

Despite its accessible price, the LA-220 V2 performs exactly as a professional microphone should. It even includes parts and manufacturing techniques similar to those found in classic microphones, like a hand-tuned 32mm capsule, hand-soldered, through-hole circuits, and a transformer-balanced output.
The LA-220 V2 is one of our favorite microphones for drum overheads. It has been used for that application on multiple Grammy Award-winning records with great success. Loud or soft, the LA-220 V2 performs exceptionally well on a wide range of sound sources.
The LA-220 V2 has a musical, modern sound, which may not be ideal for harsh or bright sources. The low-pass filter lets you capture challenging sound sources with a dark, vintage character that eliminates harshness and makes high-frequency adjustments in post-processing quick and easy.
