Made for use on snare.
Snare Mic is a 4.2-inch FET condenser microphone designed & built to capture the best snare drum sound in every situation, regardless of player, snare type, or location.
Snare Mic captures a snare drum's true impact, body, and timbre while rejecting up to 28dB of off-axis sounds. This means clear, mix-ready sonics with optimal phase coherence straight out of the microphone.
Unlike the filters in your DAW or console, these settings affect Snare Mic’s entire sonic spectrum.
Every drummer has a story about a snare drum. And within that story is a complex emotional relationship that is deeply felt but rarely discussed.
Every Snare Mic includes an articulating swivel mount and Cordura® microphone zipper bag.

The meaning of our work is shaped by the art and feedback of our creative family.
"Once I tried the Lauten snare mic, it never left the snare mic stand! The sound is punchy and incredibly full range. The strong rejection of high hats and kit is so effective, it almost sounds like some kind of AI magic, but it’s excellent engineering and design."

"The Lauten snare mic is now my go-to mic for all of my snare recording needs. In the studio or on the stage, Lauten is my favorite boutique microphone company that consistently puts out incredible quality mics that push the envelope. Bravo!"

"Like the name, “The Snare Mic”, this mic on snare surprises and surpasses any mic I have ever used on “Live Show Drums”. Moisture repellent, Hi Hat rejection, and thick tonalities are just a few things that make this mic a winner."

"I found my new ‘go to’ mic in the Lauten Snare Mic. I find I don’t need any processing when recording or mixing."

Frequently asked questions for Snare Mic.
Snare Mic’s design focuses on the complete sound of a snare drum rather than solely on the transient peak. Its clear and balanced capture of the drum’s attack and fundamental, paired with its density of sound, allows the true tone of snare drum to shine through in even the most dense mixes.
Snare Mic’s cardioid capsule is designed to capture the complete sound of a snare drum. When placed as directed in the quick start guide, you will experience a reduction in off-axis cymbal bleed, and the bleed that does come through is highly musical rather than harsh or abrasive.
It will! In either position, we recommend exploring Snare Mic’s high-pass filter settings to maximize impact while minimizing low-end interference and bass drum bleed. High-pass settings can also be used in the top-snare position to shift the focus away from the fundamental to emphasize attack.
