28dB OFF-AXIS REJECTION

Our bleed-blocking head design and dual-bias circuitry work together to provide Tom Mic with up to 28dB of off-axis rejection. Experience crisp, clear tom sounds with far less cymbal bleed than a traditional dynamic or condenser microphone.

FOCUSED DESIGN

A super-cardioid large diaphragm condenser capsule, circuitry designed for high-dynamic range, and a body crafted for proper air flow. Tom Mic was built for one reason.

LOW PASS

Tom Mic’s filters impact the overall performance of the microphone and play a critical role in its sonic versatility.
LOW PASS FLAT
Tom Mic’s frequency response boosts from 1kHz-2kHz, dips sharply at 3kHz for snap, then rises around 5k for smack and attack. Sensitivity is also reduced from 9kHz through 14kHz to minimize the sizzle and harshness of cymbal bleed.
12kHz LOW PASS
Reduce perceived attack from overly bright tom strikes for a slightly rounder and more balanced note. This setting is also helpful for bringing up the perceived body of a floor tom while further reducing bleed from the surrounding cymbals.
5kHz LOW PASS
Minimize bleed in harsh environments while preserving the essential impact and tone of a tom. This setting allows you to reintroduce presence and attack through post-EQ without accentuating unwanted high-frequency elements.

HIGH PASS

Tom Mic’s filters impact the overall performance of the microphone and play a critical role in its sonic versatility.
HIGH PASS FLAT
Allow all low-frequency information generated by a rack or floor to pass through Tom Mic’s dual-bias circuitry unaltered.
80Hz HIGH PASS
Gently reduce low-frequency buildup while improving perceived clarity from each note. This setting enables toms to stand out in a mix without sacrificing density and low end.
140Hz HIGH PASS
Significantly reduce low-frequency buildup while enhancing the perceived impact and clarity of each note. This setting is particularly useful in close-mic applications where toms need to assertively cut through a dense mix with precision and clarity.

"I’ll be straight. This is the best tom mic I’ve ever used. Not “for the money” and not “in certain situations.” Just period. I’ve always preferred LDCs on toms because nothing beats that transient speed in the highs and the extended low end down into the 40 to 50 Hz range. The problem was always bleed. Drummer. Cymbals. Chaos. Tom Mic fixed that. I get the transient top end, the weight below 100 Hz, and the rejection is so strong I stopped using triggers for gate side chaining. I can drop this right in the middle of a loud kit and still get clean, focused toms every time. Every time I throw these up I say the same thing. “This is exactly the sound that was in my head.” Big. Clean. Controlled. Zero drama."

Lee Fields

"This is truly my favorite tom mic. The sonic texture, the transient, and the rejection all combine to make this the absolute perfect tom mic. I haven’t changed them once since they got set up."

TOM MIC FAQS

Frequently asked questions for Tom Mic.

How does Tom Mic’s rejection compare to a dynamic microphone?

You will experience much less off-axis cymbal bleed, and the bleed that does come through is musical rather than harsh or abrasive. This minimizes the need for gating and makes EQ and compression a breeze.

How does Tom Mic compare to the LS-308?

Tom Mic was specifically designed and tuned for toms. Its size, off-axis rejection, sound, and management of cymbal bleed are fully optimized for that purpose. The LS-308 is a powerful noise-rejecting condenser microphone built to isolate sound sources from their environment. It is an incredible tool for near-impossible situations, and it also happens to sound great on toms.

What happens if a drummer dents the grill on my Tom Mic?

We designed Tom Mic to perform outside a drummer's strike zone just as well as other microphones perform within it, so hopefully you won’t encounter this. However, if a grill ever needs replacing, the process is straightforward, and replacements are available on our website.
